Overview

Our Future Engineering pathway provides an ideal stepping stone to working as a professional in a fast-changing industry. Engineers working in renewable energy allow us to develop new sources of energy which do not depend on the burning of fossil fuels – you’ll be addressing one of the largest problems of our time and doing your bit to secure the future development of nations. There are many other new areas including space engineering, robotics and materials science. Engineers solve problems and provide solutions to help the world. As an added bonus, there are likely to be plenty of job opportunities.   For many young people, the idea that they are going to make a difference to the world is really important. Studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects allows you to contribute to making the world and people’s lives better.

Details

As part of the future engineering course, you will be linking with major international employers and seeing what engineers do; whether working at the National Space Centre or the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical skills alongside your academic studies at the fantastic facilities that are provided at an outstanding college.

The course will comprise of the following qualifications

A Level Physics

A Level Maths

BTEC Engineering 

How will it be delivered?

The course will be run at the Grimsby Institute's Nuns Corner Campus and the University Centre Grimsby. 

Entry requirements

We recommend that you have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above. These must include a grade 4 in English Language, a grade 5 in Mathematics and two grade 5 in Science GCSEs.

Your next steps...

Progression from this programme could be to University to study related engineering degrees, an apprenticeship or employment.
