During this course you will study child development and communication as well as working with children in a variety of roles. The course will cover child health, playing and learning, safeguarding, craft activities and supporting children learning literacy and numeracy in the early stages.
Work experience plays a huge part on this course with placements available in nurseries and schools, all of which will enhance your learning experience and build your confidence, readying you for the workplace. A career in childcare will open the door to a world of possibilities. This hugely important vocation could see you play a part in creating the foundations of a child's behaviour, education and aspirations. If you have a natural affinity with children and want to develop that into a career then our childcare course will equip with all the practical skills required to progress in to a job. When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process.

5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, or equivalent, including Maths and English Language
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
