You will learn about basic animal treatments, animal accomodation, feeding and watering animals, the principles of infection control, animal anatomy and physiology. The basics of animal nursing, parasitology and zoonisis as well as animal pharmacy and control of animals. You shoudl be 17 at the start of this course.
When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. Students should be 17 at the start of this course and may be expected to have 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths and English language.
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, into employment or an apprenticeship, or, after a level 3 qualification, to Higher Education at the University Centre Grimsby or other other University.
