Overview
As an apprentice you will have a job and earn a wage whilst building up knowledge and skills within the horse care industry. These apprenticeships are a framework of qualifications made up of a Diploma in Work-Based Horse Care, Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care, Functional Skills (English and Maths), Employee Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS).
Details
- Clean and maintain stables
- Plan diets and implement feeding regimes for horses
- Carry out routine care and monitor the health and well-being of the horses
- Ride horses on a range of surfaces
- Develop and implement a horse rehabilitation plan
- Assist with care and exercise of the performance horse.
Entry requirements
You must have achieved a Level 2 qualification in Equine and have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or C or equivalent. You must also pass an initial assessment, secure work as an apprentice and have one satisfactory reference.
