Overview
Choosing to study BTEC Level 3 in Business is an excellent option for students who have a keen interest in understanding the world of business.
This two year course aims to prepare students with the knowledge they would need to work in any industry, create their own business or to further their education at university.
Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different enrichment opportunities such as; national entrepreneurship competitions, chances to visit regional companies to allow for application of knowledge as well as educational visits to prestigious universities to help support students academic progression.
BTEC Level 3 in Business is available in two different forms;
- BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business (equivalent to 1 A Level)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business (equivalent to 2 A Levels)
Details
This qualification aims to broaden and expand students’ knowledge, and it helps to focus on students career aspirations by giving them insight into the areas they could potentially specialise in after completing the course.
Unit 1: Exploring Business
Learners study the purposes of a different businesses, their structure, the effort of the external environment, and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive.
Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign
Learners will gain skills relating to, and an understanding of, how a marketing campaign is developed.
Unit 3: Personal and Business Finance
Learners study the purpose and importance of personal and business finance. They will develop the skills and knowledge needed to understand, analyse and prepare financial information.
Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection Process*
Learners explore how the recruitment process is carried out in a business. The unit gives learners the opportunity to participate in selection interviews and review their performance.
Unit 4: Managing an Event
Learners will work as part of a small group to plan, coordinate and manage a business or social enterprise event and evaluate the skills gained.
Unit 5: International Business
Learners study how UK businesses develop strategies to trade globally. Learners will also consider the factors that influence the implementation of these strategies.
Unit 6: Principles of Marketing
This unit enables learners to understand how the role of management and leadership in the workplace contributes towards business success.
Unit 24: Employment Law*
Learners explore how a business meets legal obligations relating to employment rights. They will consider processes associated with solving employment disputes.

A combination of external and internal assessed coursework and an external exam.
