Overview
Excellent communication and the ambition to justify your opinions in another language are the skills required. An interest in other countries and cultures and a desire to manipulate the target language effectively are key requirements of this course.

Historic topic linked to Second World War

Read a French foreign novel ‘No et Moi’
French is a subject that requires a lot of speaking so you will get lots of individual speaking practise to develop your proficiency and confidence. The department provides lots of reading, listening and skills support in extra timetabled sessions. You may get the opportunity to pick up another foreign language such as Portuguese or Italian and participate in a nationwide foreign writing competition.

Entry requirements
General entry criteria apply plus GCSE English Language Grade 5, GCSE French Grade 6 and Grade 4 in a traditional written subject, for example GCSE English literature. It is a requirement of this course to participate in, and be confident when, speaking the language.
