What will you be working towards?

Throughout the course, you will explore a range of skills in graphic design, fashion, textiles, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, animation and three-dimensional design.
Our specialist and industry experienced tutors will work with you throughout the course to help you refine your skills and identify your specialism, in preparation for further study and employment including apprenticeships
Units you may study include:
Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
Introduction to contextual research in art and design
Introduction to drawing skills
Introduction to communication skills in art and design
Solving 2D creative problems
Solving 3D creative problems
Solving time-based creative problems
Developing and producing a personal project in art and design
Client based projects
How will it be delivered?
100% Assessment - Coursework
Ideally at least 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 or grade A*-D including a creative subject or a Level 1 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven't already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.
Your next steps...
After completing your course you could progress on to study a Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design. Alternatively, you could progress straight into employment including apprenticeships. Studying art and design could lead to a career as a graphic designer, fine artist, gallery or museum curator, printmaker, fashion designer, photographer, illustrator, sculptor and many other opportunities.
