You will be part of the Care department during your course working in a practical way finding out about working with young children.

On CACHE Level One Diploma in Caring for Children you will learn about different subjects, which all focus on meeting the needs of the children in a childcare setting. Some of the units include, healthy eating, safety, craft activities, learning through play, science activities and forest schools. These units will help you to understand what it means to work with children.
On this course, there are plenty of valuable skills you will learn. We you support you with your ICT, Math’s and English skills. We will also help you to gain professional skills, such as developing your communication skills, to support you towards progression onto the next level in Childcare and going out into an Early Years setting.

We have lots of practical lessons involving toys, games, science activities, craft activities and interactive activities. There are lots of opportunities for you to learn and have fun too. You will also have assessments to complete. These may be in assignments, work on the computer, or practical assessments.
We also have lots of guest speakers, these may be from outside agencies to help you become more aware about British Values, Prevent, road safety, safeguarding and childcare etc. We have opportunities to take you on some different outings. In the past we have visited The Deep, Hall Farm, Little Stars Nursery and Forest Schools. These can provide you with the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and focus on how these visits can support the learning needs of children.

If you demonstrate professional behaviours and attitudes, you will have the opportunity to go out into placement for 2 weeks at the end of the year in June.

How will it be delivered?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.
