Overview

This new pre-apprenticeship programme works in collaboration with Anglian Water and partners providing a course supported by the employer for students interested in different aspects of construction.  The course will concentrate on the water industry and the infrastructure around the water industry and students will do work experience during the course with Anglian Water or one of the partner companies.  Students who successfully complete this level 2 course will be guaranteed an interview for an apprenticeships with one of the employers supporting the programme. 

Details

The one-year programme prepares students for an apprenticeship with one of the utility companies supporting the course. Students will work on laying domestic drainage, constructing foundations and construction site protection barriers. They will look at existing drainage infrastructure and the supply chain and improvements that Anglian Water are providing. The course also covers repairing manholes and chambers, flood prevention and burst mains. All areas of the supply of water and utility will be covered in this course. Learners will also develop time management, team-working and critical thinking and problem solving skills to add to their employability.

There is the added bonus that all learners who successfully complete the sponsored Level 2 course will be guaranteed an interview for an apprenticeship with Anglian Water Alliances. 

How will it be delivered?

The course will be delivered in the professional workshops at the Grimsby Institute and students will undertake work experience during the course.  

Entry requirements

Students will be required to hold GCSE Math's and English grades 4 - 9 (or A*-C) .
