An apprenticeship in construction is a form of vocational training whereby the apprentice follows a City and Guilds approved framework to develop skills and knowledge and who would then demonstrate and evidence their application in a construction environment. In order to complete a Construction Apprenticeship the apprentice must have been employed during the apprenticeship, have evidenced competence in the specified range of vocational skills and have an employed status at the time of completion. This framework will enable learners to develop their Joinery, Carpentry and Construction skills, knowledge and experience. It also enables an individual to gain valuable work experience and obtain qualifications whilst working with an employer.


Mandatory Units: Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace The apprenticeship framework consists of: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry Functional Skills: Maths, English and ICT Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements however GCSEs in Maths, English and ICT at grade A* - C are desirable.
