The Advanced Apprenticeship in Accountancy (AAT Level 3) is designed to help learners further develop their skills in accounts and finance.
What will you be learning?
The course at level 3 consists of the following units:
- Accounts Preparation 1
- Accounts Preparation 2
- Costs and Revenues
- Cash Management
- Indirect Taxation
- Spreadsheet Software
You will gain knowledge in these units through classes that you will attend half a day per week, as well as experience you gain in the workplace.
Accounts Preparation 1 and 2 must be taught in consecutive order, but the other units can be completed in any order.
Each unit is followed by an exam, which takes place online at McArthur Dean, and for which the results are usually available immediately.
Duration: 18 Months (Full Time)
How is it delivered?
Learners will attend classes half a day per week at McArthur Dean Training, as well as receive on-the-job training as required.

Level: Level 3
Previous accounts experience is essential. Learners who have already completed the AAT Level 2, or have completed A-Level Accountancy would be suitable to study at level 3.
Learners without previous experience would be more suitable for the level 2 qualification, and then progressing onto level 3.
If a learner has not achieved grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English, or does not have an equivalent qualification, then the learner will need to compelte Functional Skills in: Mathematics and English. This will involve working towards an exam in the subject(s).

Providing the learner completes the Apprenticeship to a satisfactory standard, and subject to funding, the employer could look to develop the learner to level 4.
